Vital-C: The Continuation

August 30, 2008
I'm officially a member of Vital-C.
After consulting and getting the approval of my hubby, I immediately informed my officemate Ryan and together, we went to Vital-C office just located at the back of Mc Donald's Bajada, Davao City. There, Peng met us and gave me forms (for membership and BDO cash card). I paid P5,750 as membership fee and in return, I was given 7 boxes of Vital-C capsules (worth P750, containing 100 capsules) cd, membership kit, brochures and forms. I was also informed that a BDO account under my name will be opened (hence the cash card form) with no maintaining balance required, a discount card where I can avail maximum of 25% discount in all Prince Court Inns and Crown Regency Inns, plus endless rebates and points from my downlines. Being a member also entitles me to a P250 discount in every Vital-C box I purchase, Php 10 rebate, points that I can encash upon reaching 700 points in both my left and right downlines equivalent to P1000, and referral bonuses. But more than these, I can help other people in strengthening their immune system and reap other health benefits by taking Vital-C.
Yes, you can earn big money from Vital-C (just like Ryan, Jimmy, Peng, Charmaine, Eloisa and other members I know). All you need is hardwork, patience, P5750 investment and faith - in the product and in yourself.

Proud Parents

August 29, 2008

Last week, my sons RV and Aron took their 1st grading examinations at St. Gabriel International School where they are currently enrolled. Since I'm currently in Davao for work-related activities, I was not able to personally support them during their exam day, but I was the one who reviewed and tutored them days before their exam. So imagine my happiness when I learned that both of them had actually topped their class!

RV by the way is in Grade 1. At 6 years old, he was supposed to be a Kinder 2 student but got accelerated after passing the entrance exam with flying colors. Aron on the other hand is in nursery. I wasn't really expecting much from my kids, especially Aron, knowing that they are transferees and are still adjusting to Manila life. But I guess, they adjusted well. For Aron, I thought he cannot perfect the exam coz he was complaining much during our 3-day review and had to resort to many alibis (he's tired, sleepy, etc). But he got perfect scores for 2 exams and 1 mistake for his other 2 exams! RV on the other hand is a known bright boy. Even during his stay at Lifeword Montessori, he consistently topped his class.

When I told my hubby, Jerry, about this good news thru YM, he was ecstatic and very much proud of his sons. Ditto with my mama, papa, nanay, tatay my siblings and Jerry's. I really thank God for giving me and Jerry not only with 2 handsome boys but also intelligent and wonderful kids! God is really good and He doesn't fails to amaze us!

Vital-C

August 28, 2008
Last night, I attended the membership seminar of Vital-C, a health product that gives Vitamin C a new face. Together with my officemate Ryan and his wife, we listened to speaker Peng as he explained the many benefits of this product. He also demonstrated the edge of Vital-C over the other brands and frankly speaking, I was impressed. Well, I actually heard a lot about this product from my officemates and from the net also. At first, I did not mind thinking this is just one of the "usual" products. But I was wrong for indeed, it differs a lot from other vitamin C brands. For one, the capsule is vegetable-based and not oil based, meaning it dissolves quickly for quicker absorption of the body (a recent finding about colon cancer showed undissolved capsules found inside the body, scary huh?). Its filling is also crystallized. Another thing, if you take the capsule and mix its fillings with water, there's no change in color, odor, appearance and taste of the water, as if there's no mixture at all. Try to mix the filling of your other Vitamin C to water and observe. Tendency is, it will not disolve and will not mix well. The color of the water changes and worse, it tastes so bitter - ughh! And the best thing is, Vital-C is Alkaline as opposed to acidic vitamins. So what's the difference? Acidic vitamins have a pH range of 2.5 to 3 and dosage is limited to only 1,000 mg per day since the body cannot tolerate if its more than this (too acidic). Usually mixed with starch, these are not 100% pure and natural. You also cannot take acidic vitamins before meals and persons with ulcers, diabetes and other hyper-acidity problems are also not allowed to drink. Alkaline vitamins on the other hand has a pH range of 7.5 to 7.8, 100% natural and an intake of 10,000-20,000 mg a day is safe and effective. It can be taken in any hour of the day, with or without meal and safe for everybody.
I was already impressed by the product alone but I was more impressed when I heard various testimonies from the users. Oldies who have maintained 3 tablets for their high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, heart problems and other more are now taking only Vital-C and they're doing great! Others have mentioned about children who had dengue and a day after taking it, blood platelets have increased! And the capsule, many women users have used it as astringent/face mask to keep their skin smooth (I have to try this!).
So what specific health problems do Vital C addresses, aside from disease prevention and strengthening the immune system? Read on: age spot, allergies, anemia, angina pectoris, anxiety, asthma, back pain, bed wetting, bladder infection, blood pressure, burises, cancer, cataracts, cholesterol, chronic fatigue syndrome, circulatory problem, clitis, constipation, cough, colds, dengue, dental problems, depression, diabetes, digestive problems, eczema, emotional disorder, flu, headache, heart disease, heart burn, hemorhoids, hot flashes, hypoglycemia, insomnia, joint pain, kidney stones, liver disorders, low libido, lupus, lyme disease, mouth ulcers, neuritus, osteoporosis, pain relief, phlebitis, PMS, prostate problems, psoriasis, shingles, sinusitis, stress, stroke, thyroid problem, ulcers, vaginitis, varicose vein, vertigo, warts, weight management, weak immune system, worms and wrinkles.
I have to tell Jerry about this and also inform him of the business opportunity that awaits us. I'll keep you posted about our decision. Meantime, you can visit the website of vital-C at http://www.vital-c.com.ph/ for more information and details, or you can post comments and leave your email add should you want more. I'll gladly email you back.

PDA Season 2

August 26, 2008

Are you guys also watching the Season 2 of PDA at ABS-CBN? If yes, who's your bet? I am rooting for Bugoy actually. He's really inspiring. For a commoner like him to be able to pursue his dreams, not letting poverty and looks hinder this, he made miilions of Filipinos dream also. And his voice, man, it keeps on getting better every day. No wonder he is always at the Top 3 every gala night. For last week's performance, he had a duet with Vina Morales, singing Muli by Gary V and Regine V. And guess what? He was given the highest grade ever given to a scholar in the history of PDA 2, 9.80! My favorite Bugoy performance would still be his duet with Liezel, singing an Alicia Keys and Usher original "If I Aint Got You". But all his gala performances are worth watching, I can bet on that...
Three weeks more to go and a new PDA Grand Dreamer will be chosen. Among the 6 remaining scholars (excluding Bugoy), I see Laarni as his biggest threat followed by Liezel. And speaking of Zel, it is such a waste to see her stagnate, as if there's nothing new in her performances. During the start of the contest, Zel was consistently the top scholar but was not able to sustain it. I think the judges are now bored to see the same Zel. As to Laarni, yes she has a nice voice, but she has a major attitude problem. Honestly, I don't like Laarni for many reasons and I don't have to enumerate these one by one. Just watch PDA na lng for you to see what I meant.

I'm sad :-(

August 25, 2008

I'm sad for my friend Anna. Today, her grandmother died. I know that at 84 years old, she will finally rest, rather than suffer. But I know it's also painful for her loved-ones, especially for Anna and her family whom her lola lived with for the last 5 years....My prayers would always be with my friend. Words might not enough to console her at this moment but God and His words can. I know He will be with her....

To lola, may you rest in peace. We will see each other again, one day. And give my regards to God and to Jesus Christ.

Encyclopedia: SOLD

August 25, 2008
Finally, somebody bought my brand new encyclopedia and that somebody is Kuya Edson, our neighbour. Turned out that he and his wife were planning to order one set for their 3 kids, 2 of whom are now studying. Without any haggling moment, Kuya Edson brought the books to their house immediately. As promised in my blog, I gave some freebies to the lucky buyer including a brand new Websters dictionary, Disney books (Finding Nemo and Pooh), a trace book, marine life and 2 more children books. Definitely he got a good bargain out of the Php 12K he paid.
Thanks to Dinno for the sales talk. As a token, I gave him some slighlty used books also for his daughter, Ikay.

Motocross!

August 24, 2008

As a certified motocross fanatic, we travelled all the way from Mandug to Panabo just to watch the motocross event. This was organized as a fund raising event to finance the completion of St. Agustin's church also in Panabo. With Anna, Matoy, Malou, Yonin and Tata, we entered the Panabo Gym (with no entrance thanks to Matoy) and parked our car near the race track. There, we watched the beginners, novices and experts strut their racing skills not minding the scorching heat of the sun nor the dust that trailed them. We also didn't mind these as long as we saw the acrobatic skills of the riders. I immediately thought about RV and Aron who are also fanatics like me. If they were only here in Davao, they would really enjoy the show, no doubt about it. Unfortunately also, I forgot to bring my digicam in Manila, I could have recorded it and show it to my two boys. I had to bear with my cellphone na lang and take pictures instead.

The highlight of the show was the arrival of local artists namely Ian Veneracion, Carlos Morales and Onyok Velasco. Not letting the moment pass by without any remembrance, me, Anna and Yonin, gamely went to the stage where the actors were sitting and took their pictures. Aside from that, Anna also took some pics of our favorite rider, Ambo. We were not able to finish the race since we need to travel back to Mandug and its almost 5PM, so we don't know who won it... :-)

Garage Sale Part 2

August 23, 2008

After a successful Garage Sale Part 1, I conducted another garage sale, this time selling our old clothings, shoes, bags, toys and other stuff. My best buddy Anna and my siblings Malou and Yonin helped me out in putting price tags and accounting the inventory. We finished the clothes first and was on our way to putting prices to toys and shoes when some childhood friends and neighbours dropped by to see the items. And guessed what? My sales for the night was almost Php 5K! Not bad for a 4-hour selling session.
The following day, a Sunday, we brought some items to Panabo as neighbours and friends also texted me that they want to buy some items also. We were able to sell P3K worth of goods. From an original of 8 cartons, 1 toy storage and 2 shoe cartons, what remained of the items after 1 1/2 days were 4 boxes of old clothings, half of the toy storage and 1 shoe carton. Hmmmm....

Road Trip...

August 23, 2008

I'm going to have my Garage Sale Part 2 this afternoon and so, I need to get all stuff from Panabo. Bringing the gang who was with me at Damosa last night, we woke up early and rode the Ford Trekker on our way to Panabo. It was not my usual ride. Why? We had some photo sessions inside the car, while its moving! And not to be left behind of course, I had some photo ops while driving also. But before that, I made sure the road is clear, hahahaha.

Crazy group!

Kadayawan Nightlife!

August 22, 2008

From Liv's house, me and Anna went home briefly to fetch my brother Yonin and our friends Loloy and Tata. I must admit, I almost forgot that we were to go downtown to catch the Kadayawan nighlife. If Yonin did not texted me, we would have spent the whole night at Liv's talking about anything. Anyhow, the trio were already waiting for us at the street when we arrived. So after a quick retouch, off we go to downtown. We decided to go directly to Damosa gateway anticipating the concert of Chad. All the while, we were thinking about Chad Peralta (ex-PDA dreamer), it turned out to be Chad Borja actually. To make the story short, we were dismayed. Hehehehe
But we still had a fun night at the gateway, at least we were able to enjoy it. Since they were celebrating their 3rd year anniversary, they had a short program with a lot of pakulo. Upon the prodding of the group, Yonin joined one pakulo and he won! The question was to give the delivery number of Mc Donalds. He was given a bag for his prize but more than that, he dared to GO onstage amidst the presense of strangers (it was an SRO event). Now that's what I called GUTS & CONFIDENCE!

After a while, we decided to transfer venues. We were supposed to watch a local band from Mandug play at Torres street. But parking was a problem. So we ended up just touring the city just to see what's in for a Kadayawan night. We arrived at Mandug, safe and sound at around 12:30AM, tired but worth it.

Highschool Friends!

August 22, 2008
I had a blast last Friday talking to my highschool batchmates and also friends. Good that we had a long holiday ahead starting on Friday due to Kadayawan festival and on Monday due to National Heroes day. After a tiring day of arranging some used clothing, shoes, bags, toys and other more for my Garage Sale Part 2, me and my best buddy Anna agreed to visit another best buddy Liv after receiving her invitation thru text. At 4PM, off we go to their house which is actually within the village. As we arrived there, we decided to buy some food but we ended up touring the village to visit some of our highschool friends. First stop was at Erwin's residence, sadly, he was in Cebu for a work engagement. Next stop was Mandug. Luckily, Cecille was just sitting outside their house, so we gladly stopped to chit-chat. And since Oman was just living beside Cecille's house, without much ado we invited him to join us.
What followed was a series of picture taking and kamustahan. We had a good time updating each other that we didn't noticed it was already dinner time! So we bade our hischool friends goodbye and instead of buying bbq, we bought a lechon manok for dinner. We went back to Liv's house and prepared our modest viand, with toyo/kalamansi/sili as our side dish. Much to our surprise, Liv actually prepared someting for dessert, macaroni salad! Maybe because we haven't seen each other for so long or maybe because of the setting (under the tree, with the nearby flourescent as our light, not to mention the semi-cold breeze), the 3 of us ate like horses! And surprise, surprise, we finished eating the whole lechon manok over some nth plates of rice and almost finished eating the salad...What an appetite!!!!

Indeed, friends can make our day. I missed my highschool friends, classmates and batchmates (I was not able to attend the informal reunion last May, better luck next time Charms). But I also know, one day soon, we will gather once again and reminisce the good old high school life....

Sonicflood Live in the Philippines!

August 15, 2008

At first, I can't believe it, until I read it directly from Ticket Net, the official ticketing office of the concert. Wow, this is GREAT, my favorite worship band is coming over and finally I could listen to all their praise and worship songs LIVE!!!

For those who haven't heard of Sonicflood yet, they are acknowledged as one of the best groups of today in the area of contemporary Christian music. Although there have already been many bands in the past who made hits out of modern praise and worship songs, the one credited with bringing this music to the consciousness of today's kids is Sonicflood.

Among its hitsongs are: "Lord, I Lift Your Name On High," "Open The Eyes Of My Heart," "I Have To Know You (In The Secret)," "I Will Give"/"Cry Holy," "I Could Sing Of Your Love Forever," "Better Is One Day," "In Your Hands," "The Heart Of Worship," "You Are Worthy Of My Praise," "Here I Am To Worship," "Trading My Sorrow," and many more.

I just couldn't let this chance pass by, I have to be in the concert and hear them play my favorite Christian songs. So last August 15, I went to Araneta Coliseum amidst the heavy downpour and traffic. Good that I left the house at around 6PM as I travelled for more than 2 hours, barely missing the opening act! When I entered the place, I couldn't believe that it was fully packed, mostly by youngsters. I was elated by the turn-out.

Then the concert started. The Christian band who opened the act made the audience clamor for more and when Sonicflood went on stage, everybody was already energized. At they played their first song, I Have Come to Worship You, a different yet wonderful energy went inside me. It was an unexplainable feeling! Going back to the concert, we were on our feet in every song, clapping our hands and singing our hearts out. I was very much touched by the testimony of Sonicflood's lead singer, Rick Heil, who suffered from Chrom's disease for 20 years and was miraculously healed last year. Known to be an incurable disease, Rick wanted to end his life and turned his back against any hope of recovering, until he accepted and offered his life to our Saviour, Lord Jesus Christ. From then on, he saw every day in pain as a blessing and an opportunity to thank God. And his faith paid off... He unabashedly told the audience that if God cured him and melted his heart of stone, what more for us?

When the group sang the Heart of Worship and Here I am to Worship, I couldn't help but cry, as most of the audience did, not because of sadness but because of joy. I was happy that I had renewed my relationship with God even before the concert happened, and happy knowing that God is indeed good. And as if reading our minds, the band played " I Could Sing of your Love" to re-affirm our praise and worship.

The concert lasted until 11:30PM. It was a humbling experience being there and it was worth more than the P1050 ticket I bought, priceless. If there will be more concert like this, I wouldn't think twice in watching. Months from now, I might forget the song order or all the sharings the band gave, but certainly, I will not forget what Heil said, "Do not judge Christianity by its people, judge it thru Jesus Christ."

God is good, all the time!

BATMAN

Inspired by the recent gathering of childhood friends, I decided to create a Friendster group called BATMAN or Batang Mandug. Aside from reconnecting with my elementary and high school classmates, batchmates, schoolmates, friends, acquaintances, former neighbours and other more, I am also interested in knowing whether we share the same feelings over our memorable memories of DDF Village, Mandug and of course to get some updates.

And so, I mustered my guts and sent invites to all Batmans in my friendster account. Happily, 42 batmans answered my invites and are now members of this group.

If you happen to be a batman or know somebody who is one, please don't hesitate to join us. Just add me up in your friendster account charma0378@yahoo.com , my profile and click BATMAN under my groups.

See you there!

Here's the Lyrics of Minsan

MINSAN
By: Eraserheads

chorus

Reminiscing Mandug and our Childhood

August 10, 2008:

'Twas a starry, starry night. There was no special event or whatsoever in our street, but surprisingly, childhood friends were gathered in our usual tambayan - outside our house. Me, Anna, Charlo, Dino, Joefer, Cha-cha, Belen, JR, JC Boy, RJ, Archie and Ninoy shared childhood memories over some bottles of Red Horse. From street games to hiking and drinking sessions, name it, and we have talked about it.

Back then, a lot of recreational activities were held in our street: we had a makeshift basketball court where any gutsy player can dunk the ball, a volleyball court that can be easily converted to badminton court, spots to go for the hide and seek games at night, syatong holes, cemented wall for the labo-labo, open space for the tumba-lata, takyan, tumba-manila, chinese garter, etc... So as expected, everyday our street had many visitors from other streets within the village. It was fun coz I was able to meet and make friends at the same time played on any games. And the weather condition was not an issue, if it rained, we huddled indoors to play table tennis, card game, jamming sessions, watch cable (at that time, our house is one of the few houses who had a cable connection via Home Channel), or just talk about anything. Drinking was still a no-no back then, at least not in the presence of our parents.

I learned how to play the guitar because of these gatherings. My crush was good in it so to be close to him, I pretended to be fascinated with guitar also. He taught me the basics and after a while, my attention diverted to the guitar. During jamiing sessions, I would play the rhythm, my brother the lead and Dino on the bass (sometimes on the makeshift drums) and we would sing our hearts out with Joefer as our lead singer. Favorites were Eraseserheads songs and other songs from pinoy bands who had sprouted thanks to Eheads fame. Maybe we were good jammers coz it also attracted other villagers, even by-passers. Some will drop by to join us in a song or two, while others stayed just to listen as we jammed the night away. But I must say, we sounded better if we had bottles of beer in front of us. Hehehehe

If we got tired playing, guess what's our next activity? Hide and seek! We had a blast playing this at night, sort of affirming our braveness by hiding in well-known spooky places in the street. The duranta plants were also a favorite hideout to the dismay of the mothers maintaining it. It was so addictive that even if I was in college already, we still played hide and seek!

There's a lot of stories to tell: our hiking adventure in "tabok" where we lost our way and ended up following a stream that eventually led us to Mandug river. The minor accidents (i collapsed after climbing an unended steep trail, Cha had a fracture after she slid and bumped into a tree, Lando wounded his legs while attempting to open the coconut using his swiss knife coz we had no drinking water left - he had 10 stitches because of that wound and passing by a real haunted house). And a lot more stories as I spent almost my entire life in the village.

Most of my childhood friends are still in DDF Village, while others left and ventured to other places. Although we all now lead a different life (as fathers, mothers, etc), once in a while, we gather around to talk about how we missed each other's companies, just what we did today. And boy, indeed I missed my childhood life and wished that I could go back again. If you are familiar with the songs of Eraserheads, "Minsan" aptly describes our childhood memories....

For Sale: Brand New Encyclopedia

August 9, 2008:

It can be recalled in my Garage Sale! blog that I still haven't sold my encyclopedia. Until now, it is for sale actually. To give you a detailed background, we bought the 21-volume The New Book of Knowledge encyclopedia last March 2007 with the primary aim of instilling the virtue of reading to our 2 kids and at the same time, as a reading material for their schooling. Since we paid it in cash, the New Webster's Dictionary was given for free. We decided to buy the books amidst the suggestions of some relatives and friends that with the new technology nowadays, these books will not be of great importance. But Jerry and I always believed that reading from a book is so much different than reading from a computer...

The books are not yet opened from their original casing as we intended to let our children use these once they entered gradeschool. For the last 17 months, these were on display in our sala but were never been used nor opened.

If anyone is interested, I am selling the books at Php 12K for the whole set, including the Webster's Dictionary. The original price is Php19K. You can email me at charma0378@yahoo.com or at charma0378@gmail.com for inquiries/intention.

Garage Sale!

August 8-9, 2008:

My husband and I had decided to sell our house in Panabo. Eversince I was tranferred to our main office in Davao, we hardly sleep there as we preferred staying in Mandug considering the distance. Moreover, sooner or later we will anyway dispose the house once our PR (permanent residency) arrives. Good thing that my brother-in-law was also looking for a place in Panabo and it was an easy decision for him to buy the unit, but without the appliances and furnitures. This means that I have to dispose the items separately, thinking it would be easy. However, it was not. To sell the items, I have to make an inventory, appraise and clean the items, and then look for potential buyers willing to buy never been used and slightly used items (the most tedious part I must say!).
So together with my brothers JR and Ninoy and childhood friend Anna, off we go one last Saturday to do the inventory and partial cleaning. We started first with the high valued items like the refrigerator, TV, sound system, encyclopedia, children's books, sala set, dining set and the bed and matresses then we moved on with the kitchen utensils and some stuff. While doing these, we had a fun time catching up with our lives, reminiscing about our childhood and at the same time telling updates of our other friends. We finished the task at around 3 in the afternoon and decided to come back the next day for the actual garage sale.
The following day, we left Mandug early in the morning and were joined by siblings Belen and JC Boy, also our childhood friends, their mother, Ate Virgie and my colleagues Veince and Biboy. At the back of my mind I was thinking that the car we are using cannot carry all the items that will not be sold coz I was assuming only few items will be disposed in Panabo. When we arrived, I immediately told my brother to go the rounds and inform our neighbour of the garage sale. It turned out that one of my biggest buyers are actually with us along, Belen, Ate Virgie, Veince and Biboy! When they saw my never been used items, especially kitchen items, plus the very low selling prices, they immedaitely had their choices! One by one, our neighbours came and by word of mouth, more people came to see and buy our things. Even the slight rainshower cannot stop them from going to our house. Moreover, my inlaws called to buy most of the high valued items! Indeed, the turn-out was overwhelming...
At the end of the day, only 8 items were left for disposal, 3 sets of glasses, 3 sets of bowls, 1 set of plates and 1 ceramix food containers and 1 high-valued item, the encyclopedia. We left Panabo earlier than projected at 4PM and as my way of saying thanks, treated everyone with a halo-halo and siopao at Mandarin Tea Garden.
It was somewhat emotional for me letting go of some items. They were in a way became part of our family starting from the start where there was only me and my hubby until the time we were blessed with 2 angels. But I am happy that most of those items that had sentimental values were bought by my loved-ones (the house, TV, ref, sound system, books, etc...). At least once in a while, we could see them. I bid my final goodbye to our house, restraining the tears that started dwelling in my eyes. My brother Ninoy must have sensed my emotions for he prodded me to take a picture before we leave, of which I happily did.
